Case study

Legal practice automated its contract intake

A boutique commercial law firm was spending expensive attorney hours on the least glamorous part of the job: reading inbound contracts to pull out the same handful of terms, over and over.

The challenge

Every new matter started with a paralegal manually summarising parties, dates, renewal terms, liability caps and governing law into a spreadsheet. It was slow, inconsistent between people, and easy to get wrong on a long document.

What we built

A document intelligence pipeline that ingests contracts and NDAs, extracts the key terms into a structured record, and flags anything unusual against the firm’s own playbook. The output is a clean summary an attorney reviews and approves — never a decision made without a human in the loop.

  • Structured extraction of parties, dates and key clauses
  • Playbook checks that flag off-market terms for review
  • One-click export into the matter management system

The result

Intake time fell from hours to minutes per contract, and the summaries are now consistent regardless of who runs them. Attorneys spend their time on judgement calls instead of data entry.
